Susan L. Skipper

Susan Marie Skipper, 71, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away on April 12, 2025. Born on June 6, 1953, in Lake Charles to Leo Joseph LaMontagne and Lucy Ann Alleman LaMontagne, Susan lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service to others.

Susan earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing and devoted an impressive 45 years to the healthcare field. Her career included working as a Registered Nurse across various hospital specialties, including the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and later as an Occupational Health Nurse at PPG before retiring. Beyond her professional commitments, Susan actively supported CARC in Lake Charles, positively impacting the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities.

Known for her warm spirit and candid nature, Susan had a passion for gardening that led her to join the Gardening Society at Our Lady Queen of Heaven. She took great pride in tending both her vegetable garden and flowers at home, always ensuring her harvests were perfect. Her love extended to her beloved rat terriers, who were constant companions by her side.

Susan is survived by her loving husband, Richard Hungerford; her son, Robert Skipper; her stepdaughter Jessica Dupin; her stepsons Jason Hungerford, Richie Hungerford (Sheila), and Shane Hungerford (Jessica); her cherished grandson Joshua Dupin; numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister Janet White (Dan); and her brothers Paul Lamontagne and Leo Lamontagne Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Lucy Lamontagne.

A funeral service will be held in Susan's honor on April 22, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles with a graveside service to follow at Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on April 21, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume April 22, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM before services.
