Susie Zimmerman Mcclain

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Phyllis Sue “Susie” Coley Zimmerman McClain, 65, of Lake Charles, LA, who passed away peacefully at 11:02 PM on Thursday, May 19, 2022 in a local care facility.

Susie was born January 13, 1957 in Lake Charles, LA.  Susie was always very dedicated and determined.  She put her heart and soul into every goal she set out to achieve.  She loved her career as a financial planner with Zimmerman Financial Group.  She received numerous awards and recognitions throughout the years and often made the President’s Club.  Susie and her late husband, “Scotty” opened a restaurant named after her in her honor “Susie Q’s”.  Many good memories and friends were made there through the years.  She enjoyed traveling and seeing the world.  She loved horses and reading books but most of all, she loved people.  She never met a stranger.  She will always be remembered as a loving, funny, classy and kind mother, wife, grandmother, sister and friend.

Susie is survived by her two daughters, Julie Zimmerman Goehring of Austin, TX, and Jessica Zimmerman Stutes, husband Chad of Lake Charles, LA; step-sons, Craig MClain and wife Cindy, Cris McClain, and Kevin McClain and wife Aimee; her beloved “Irishman” her partner, William Pascal Malone; sisters, Debbie Tenney and husband John, Marsha Fruge and husband Terrell; her only brother, David Coley;  grandchildren, Jack Johnson, Max Goehring, Cole Goehring, Gage Stutes, and Carley Stutes; her only niece, Shelly Tenney Flores; nephews, Terry and Jason Tenney; and many other family members, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-six years, Reuben Scott McClain; parents, Edsel and Beulah Lyons Coley; and son-in-law, Tim Goehring.

A Celebration for the life of Susie will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at First Pentecostal Church of Lake Charles, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Susie’s beloved friend, Nick Perioux will officiate.  A gathering of friends and family will begin at 10:30 AM at the church.

The family would like to express a special word of thanks to Harbor Hospice and to her wonderful caregivers to whom we could not have made it through this without them, Rita Fontenot, Priscilla Simien and Mary Declouiet, thank you all so much for the excellent care given.

"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”  Revelations 21:4
