Sweeney Paul Stutes, Iii

Sweeny Paul Stutes III, 75, of Maryville, MO and formerly of Sulphur, LA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at his home north of Maryville.

Sweeny was born in Crowley, LA on July 19, 1947.  His parents were Sweeny Paul and Maude Comeaux Stutes.  They preceded him in death.  

He proudly served his country in the United States Army.  He worked many years for Conoco as an Operator at their calcining plant in Carlyss.

Sweeny enjoyed gardening and fishing and professed being a “stay at home retiree.”  He loved and frequently watched The New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his two sons, Nathan Stutes of Whitehouse, TX, and Adrian Stutes of Lake Charles, LA; his daughter, Sophie Stutes of Lake Charles, LA; five grandchildren, Scott and Elliot Stutes, Finn Pleasant-Stutes, Vega Tower, and Keria Meyers.

Mr. Stutes has been cremated under the care of Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.  A celebration of his life will be conducted at Johnson Funeral Home, Lake Charles on May 26th, 2023, at 5:00 PM.  Visitation will begin at 4 pm.
