Sybil Doucet Soileau

Sybil Soileau, 84, of Lake Charles, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.  Sybil was born on January 22, 1940 in Sulphur, Louisiana to Sidney and Clementine Doucet.  Sybil was a graduate of Eunice High School in 1958. She was crowned Miss Eunice in 1959 and held other festival titles. She then went on to have a long career as a bookkeeper.

Sybil was a fearless, independent, witty, strong-willed servant of the Lord. She loved sewing, crafting, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an active member in her church and looked forward to spending time with her church friends.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Mitzi Vincent (Craig) of Moss Bluff, John Comeaux, Jr. of Sunset, 6 grandchildren; Ryan Fontenot of Lake Charles, Amy Godeaux of Iota, Karen Barton (Jimmy) of Garrison, Tx, Blake Vincent (Tiffany) of Baton Rouge, Austin Vincent (Angelle) of Moss Bluff, Alex Vincent (Laken) of DeRidder,  7 great grandchildren; Blailyn Godeaux, Payton Godeaux, Jaxson Godeaux, Sammy Barton, Kinlee Vincent, Kayslee Vincent, and Burkeman Vincent.

She was preceded in death by husband, James Brian Soileau; her father, Sidney Joseph Doucet and her mother, Clementine Matte; eight siblings, Dennis Doucet, Sidney Doucet Jr., Preston Doucet, Behrman Doucet, Viola Nearhood, Vida Guillory, Nelson Doucet, and Mabel Leviner.

Visitation for Sybil will be from 10:30 AM until 12:30 PM  on Tuesday January 30, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, 4321 Lake St. Lake Charles, LA. 70605.  A memorial service will begin at the funeral home at 12:30 PM  with Rev. Randy Monroe officiating.  The family has entrusted cremation arrangements to Johnson Funeral Home.
