Sylvester Austin Pauley (better known as Jack), 84, of Sulphur passed away at 2:25 AM on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 after a long illness, he was surrounded by loved ones.
Mr. Pauley was born on December 17, 1927 in Elkview, West Virginia. He was a brother of the Masonic Sulphur Lodge, Lake Charles Scottish Rite Bodies, and Habibi Shriners. He served time in the Merchant Marines until he moved to Sulphur, LA. He worked at Firestone for 23 years until he retired from there to go to work overseas. He is retired from Local 106 of Lake Charles, LA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lilly Stump of West Virginia and Kellis Pauley of Vera Beach, FL and his grandson, Jack Alvin Pauley of Sulphur, LA.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Bernadine Stump Pauley; three sons, Richard Pauley of Cave City, AR, George and Evelyn Pauley of Sulphur, and Mike and Debbie Pauley of Sulphur; six grandchildren, Ricky, George (Tyger), C.B., Tamra, Misty, and Michelle; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Ann Holmes of Texas; and a brother, James Edward Stump of North Carolina.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gamborg, Odyssey Hospice Care, and West Cal-Cam Home Health.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 158 Vincent Dr. in Carlyss.
