Sylvia C. Sepulveda Irwin

April 30, 1947 — January 11, 2018

Sylvia Catherine Sepulveda Irwin, 70, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018 in a local hospital. She was born in San Antonio, TX, grew up in Chicago, IL and relocated to Louisiana upon retiring from AT&T after 31 years of service. Sylvia graduated from Holy Trinity Croation Church Grade School and St. Procopius High School.

 

Ms. Irwin had one son, Robert C. Irwin who still resides in Illinois. She enjoys music, dancing, cooking, and working with computers.

 

Sylvia joined the Champaign-Businick VFW Auxiliary Post 2130 has served in numerous positions and was currently serving as President. Sylvia was serving as Americanism Chairman and Scholarship Chairman. She had served as Senior Vice President, Trustee, Americanism Chairman, and Americanism Co-Chairman. She was passionate about promoting everything about the VFW, especially remembering the forgotten heroes such as the Homeless Veterans, supporting them, and honoring their sacrifice.

 

Ms. Irwin was preceded in death by her mother, Abelina King Sepulveda; father, Jim C. Sepulveda and one brother, Arthur A. Sepulveda.

 

She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Robert C. Irwin, Jr.; sister, Diana M. Sepulveda; two brothers, James and Frank Sepulveda; three nephews, Paul Sepulveda, Christopher Sepulveda and Eric Sepulveda; grand nephew, Vincent Sepulveda; grand niece, Karma Sepulveda and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

 

A gathering of friends will be from 4:00PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, January 23, 2018 with Memorial services to begin at 6:00 PM at the VFW Post 2130, 5676 Lake Street, Lake Charles, LA. A Memorial service at a later date will be held in Evergreen Park, Illinois. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Illinois.
