Ms. Sylvia Magehee Mier, age 84, passed away February 14, 2011, at her residence.
Born May 7, 1926, in Crowley, she was a recent resident of Vidor, TX and had resided in Lake Charles for over 46 years. A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was a retired CNA, who was known for showing much care to her patients. Ms. Mier was very active in her church activities as well. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Preceded in death was her first husband and the father of her children, Rev. H.G. Magehee, her second husband, Norris Mier, her parents, Eugene and Zara Stutes, a grandson, Shane Newman, and her brothers, Phorbus Stutes and Morgan Eugene Stutes.
Survivors include her children, Larry Magehee and wife, Thanna of Austin, TX, Priscilla Perkins and companion, Edward Trahan of Lake Charles, Jerry Magehee of Austin, TX, and Wendy Underwood of Vidor, TX; ten grandchildren, Eugene Oquinn, Richard Underwood, Magin Gonzales, P.J. Underwood, Jacob Newman, Arlette Gass, Rachel Corum, Eric Magehee, Jason Newman, and Jonathon Underwood; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2011, at Johnson Funeral Home. Her family will preside over the services. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 16, from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. and again on Thursday, from 8 a.m. until time of services.
