Sylvia Anne Sexton Myers Batterbee, 77, of Lake Charles passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in the comfort of her home. Mrs. Batterbee was born in Mermentau, LA, raised in Jennings and lived most of her life in the Lake Charles and Houston areas. She was a graduate of LaGrange High School and attended McNeese State University where she pursued a Teaching degree. She worked nearly twenty years as a Sales Representative and District Manager for Avon for which, in 1980 she received the Circle of Excellence Award and a week in Honolulu, HI for convention. Mrs. Batterbee worked later in life with the Meals on Wheels program. She was an avid reader. She will be most remembered as a woman with a happy spirit and positive outlook. She never let any obstacle bring her down. She leaves to cherish her memory, four sons, William Lee Myers of Houston, TX, Marty Myers of Moss Bluff, Robert David Myers and wife Gerrie of Moss Bluff and Daniel Wayne Myers, Sr. and wife Emily of Lake Charles; eight grandchildren; Justin Myers, Alison M. Duplechin, Daniel W. Myers, Jr., John D. Myers, Benjamin Myers, Brittany Myers, Jordan Myers and Mathew Myers; three great-grandchildren, Jessica and Weston Myers and Jaxon Cheaney; two brothers, Sonny Sexton, Joe Sexton and wife Barbara and cousin (brother), Alvin Hebert. She was preceded in death by husbands, Ivy Edward Myers and Noel Batterbee and her sister, Dee Broussard. A gathering of friends Saturday will be at 2:00 PM in her home, 1137 Wedgewood Drive in Moss Bluff. Rev. Todd DeBartolo will lead services in a celebration of life in memory of Mrs. Batterbee.
