With heavy hearts we are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather, Ted "Skippy" Alan Shelton, 72. He passed away Friday, Dec. 18th, 2015.
Mr. Shelton was born December 31, 1942 in Buffalo, WY and attended Buffalo High School. He served in country in the U.S. Air Force, where he was stationed in Spokane, WA at Fairchild Air Force Base. He has lived in the Lake Charles area for the past forty-seven years. He worked as an operations supervisor for Conoco from 1969 until retirement in 2003. Mr. Shelton was a member of St. Luke-Simpson United Methodist Church. He was very active with a variety of organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, SWLA P.E.T. Project, Red Cross, Manna Ministries, Stephen Ministry, United Way, and served on the Wesley Fellowship Board at McNeese State University. He also sponsored a scholarship for two young children in Honduras: Paola Yudic Hernadez Gonzales and Rosa Alba.
Mr. Shelton is survived by his daughters, Michelle Shelton McBurney and husband John Mark McBurney of Austin, TX, Shawn Shelton Collette and Hugh Connell Collette of Lake Charles, and Krista Alisa Shelton of Lake Charles; son, Brad Alan Shelton and wife Terri Nelle Shelton of Mobile, AL; siblings, Dale Shelton and wife Alice of Buffalo, WY, Ruth Little of Crumpler, NC, Vern Shelton and wife Nancy of Laramie, WY, and Marvin Shelton and wife Shirley of Buffalo, WY; grandchildren, Marley Elyse McBurney, Jensen Elaine McBurney, Lyndsey Nelle Shelton, Michael Alan Shelton, Max Colin Collette, and Catherine Eileen Collette.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Velma Gertrude Mosebar and Marvin Edwin Shelton; and sister, Leona Shelton Rose
The family would be honored if you could attend his service to celebrate his life on Earth and entrance into Heaven.
Visitation will be on Monday, Dec. 21st at Johnson Funeral Home located at 4321 Lake Street, Lake Charles, LA 70605 from 4pm-7pm. There will be an open casket viewing from 4pm-5pm, followed by a closed casket visitation from 5pm-7pm. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 22nd, 2pm at St Luke-Simpson United Methodist Church located at 1500 Country Club Road, Lake Charles, LA. 70605.
