Teresa Smithers Treadway, 64, of Lake Charles, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2011 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Treadway was born in Lake Charles to E. C. and Mildred Smithers. She graduated from Lake Charles High School in 1964, where she was a proud member of the Kilties. After her marriage to Bruce Treadway, they moved to New Jersey, where they resided for twenty-five years. There she enjoyed work as a Realtor. They moved back to Lake Charles in 1996. She was a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. Mrs. Treadway was an excellent cook who enjoyed entertaining her family and friends. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and dear friend to many. Mrs. Treadway also enjoyed a bowling league and golfing as a member of Graywood. She liked photography, sewing, and arts and crafts, but her greatest joy in life was helping others. She will be most remembered as a caregiver and for her faith and spirituality.
Terry leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Bruce Treadway; mother, Mildred Dumatrait Bell; son, Michael Treadway and wife Lana; and their children, Jake, Erica, and Mikaylen Treadway; brother, Jimmy Smithers and wife Noemi, all of Lake Charles; step-son, Dewayne Treadway and wife Gina; and their children, Britnee, Trey, and Brittiney Treadway of Gilmer, TX; step-daughter, Jana Treadway of Houston, TX; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, E. C. Smithers; and brother, E. J. Smithers.
Memorial services will be at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon George Carr will officiate. Interment at a later date will be in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday will be from 4:00 PM until the time of service in the funeral home.
