Terry G. Williamson, 66, of Sulphur, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2016 in his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Terry was born in DeRidder, LA but moved to Lake Charles when he was 14 years old. He graduated from LaGrange High School in 1968 and joined the U.S. Navy in February 1969. His boot camp was in San Diego, CA and he was assigned to the USS Benner DD807. He then transferred to Naval Air Station Miramar, where he served on the USS Ranger for duty in Vietnam. He was reassigned to the USS Kitty Hawk and returned to Vietnam in January 1971. His main duty on board these carriers was as an Aviation Maintenance Administrator, working on logs for Phantom F4J jets.
Upon returning to Lake Charles in January 1973, Terry enrolled at McNeese State University, majoring in Accounting. It was there that he met the love of his life, Pam. They were married in August 1973 and will celebrate their 43rd wedding anniversary on August 4. Terry and Pam are the proud parents of three sons, and Terry was actively involved in their favorite sports: karate, running track, playing baseball, basketball, and many years of soccer. One of his favorite pastimes was playing golf. He encouraged Pam to take up the game, and they enjoyed many golf trips through the years. He dearly loved his regular Saturday round at Frasch Golf Club with his group of friends: Kim, Chuck, Donnie, Guy, and Wayne. He proudly scored a hole in one on #9 at Frasch in July 2003. He was also an avid photographer.
Terry leaves to honor his memory his wife Pam of Carlyss and their three sons: Brian Williamson and wife Jessica of Lake Charles, Michael Williamson and wife Jessica of Lake Charles, and Scott Williamson and wife Carrie of Sulphur. His pride and joy are his four grandsons: Alexander, Henry, Hayes, and Owen. He is also survived by two brothers: Elwin Williamson and wife Lindy of Marion, MA and Jarvis Williamson of Lake Charles. Terry has many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors whom he dearly loved.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Buell Williamson of DeRidder, his father, J B Williamson of DeRidder and stepmother Elizabeth Williamson of DeRidder, as well as his in-laws Lloyd and Edna Frederick, whom he looked upon as his second parents.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Lindsay, of Harbor Hospice, who lovingly cared for and guided him through the last weeks of his life.
His memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Friends may gather from 12:00 PM until the start of the service.
Terry would be honored for donations to M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital to be made in his name.
