Terry Wayne Messenger, 70, of Lake Charles passed away at 2:46 PM on Thursday, November 11, 2021 in his residence.
Mr. Messenger was born on May 5, 1951 in Crawfordsville, IN and was raised in Danville, IL. Following graduation from Danville High School, he joined the US Army. During this time, he was stationed in Fort Gordon in Georgia, Fort Hood, Hawaii, and Korea. While stationed in Hawaii, he had the opportunity to attend the University of Northern Colorado where he received his master's degree. Upon being honorably discharged, he moved to Lake Charles in 1980 where he resided and began his 31-year career at PPG Industries, retiring as a safety supervisor. After his retirement, he started and ran a business that allowed him to teach safety classes upon request.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 45 years, Karen Rogers Messenger of Lake Charles; a son, Jason Paul Messenger (Mercedes) of Lake Charles; grandson, James Taylor Grafton of Sulphur; a half-brother, Clarence Messenger, Jr. of Danville, IL; and his mother-in-law, Ola Mae Rogers of Lake Charles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Clarence Messenger, Sr.
Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
