Theda Rose Johnson Fontenot

Theda Rose Johnson Fontenot, 89, of Lake Charles, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2010 in the comfort of her daughters home.

Mrs. Fontenot was born, raised and educated in Oakdale, LA and was a graduate of Oakdale High School. She has lived the passed sixty years in Lake Charles. She was an avid sports fan, especially of tennis and football. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, gatherings of family and friends and her grandchildren. She will be most remembered for her "sweet spirit", her faith and her love and devotion to her family.

Mrs. Fontenot was a member of Boulevard Baptist Church, Women's Missions and was formerly a Sunday school teacher.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Jerry Woolman of Lake Charles; two grandsons, Douglas Burguieres and wife Cindy and Steven Burguieres and wife Karen, all of Lake Charles; four great- grandchildren, Kaitlin, Benjamin, Brady and Marissa; one step- grandchild, Susan James and husband Brian of Coppell, TX; two step- great- grandchildren, Grayson and Avery James; one brother, Billy Johnson and wife Diane of Tuscaloosa, AL; two sisters, Jackie Stone and husband Ralph of Baton Rouge and Dorothy Parsons of Hague, VA; one sister- in- law, Daisy Fontenot of Lake Charles; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Raymond Carl Fontenot.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 25, 2010 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Steve James will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Friday will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue Saturday from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.

Pallbearers for services will be Douglas Burguieres, Steve Burguieres, Mark Brevelle, Ronnie Strother, Darrell Strother and Arvie Young.
