Thelma Fontenot Takacs, 94, of Lake Charles passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018 in the comfort of her home.
Mrs. Takacs was a native of Oakdale and has lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She was a graduate of Oakdale High School. She was a devoted member of nearly seventy years, of Boulevard Baptist Church where she taught every level of Sunday school. She was also a member of Women’s Missionary Union. She found great pride in helping her husband with their antique store, “Snoopers Den”. Mrs. Takacs will be most remembered as an admirable woman of her generation. She was a lady of family, faith and prayer with an overwhelming love for The Lord.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Patricia Ann Inge (Jerry) of Irving, TX and Helen Louise Takacs of Lake Charles; five grandchildren, Christine Czellecz (Mike), Jamie Inge (Christie), Michelle Johnson (Bill), Jeff Latham (Becky) and Paula Latham; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years, Zolan James Takacs; parents, Walter and Essie Hebert Fontenot; five sisters; Ruth Milligan, Mildred Stanley, Opal Milsap, Mabel McGee and Miami Dunn and two brothers, Woodrow Fontenot and Joe Fontenot.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 9, 2018 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Ronnie Estes and Reverend Theron Watson will officiate. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation Saturday will be from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue Sunday at 1:00 PM until the time of service in the funeral home.
