Thelma Joyce Precht

November 23, 1928 — August 23, 2013

Thelma Joyce Precht, 84, passed into eternal rest on August 23, 2013 at Ozark Riverview Manor in Ozark, Missouri.

Mrs. Precht was born in Port Arthur, TX on November 23, 1928. Her parents Placid and Ina Chesson welcomed her into the world as the middle child in their large, loving family. She resided in the Lake Area for most of her life, graduating from Grand Lake High School in 1946 and Mathieu Business College in 1948. She married her loving husband Calvin Edward Precht in 1952 in a beautiful and happy union that lasted fifty-three years. They made their home in Lake Charles, where Mrs. Precht had a career as a secretary. Over the last five years, Joyce moved to Ozark, Missouri to be near her daughter, Arlo Precht Stallion.

She enjoyed gardening, crafting, and her membership and friendships in the University United Methodist Church. What she enjoyed most of all was spending time with her family and those she loved. Giving time, attention, and herself was her greatest display of love. She frequently and selflessly volunteered to care for others and made a difference in many lives. A life well lived is a life well loved.

Joyce is survived by her daughter Arlo Precht Stallion and husband Tim of Nixa, Missouri; son Carroll Edward Precht and wife Susan of Highlands, Texas; grandchildren Steven Stallion and wife Erin of San Francisco, California, Kevin Stallion and wife Teressa of Lake Charles, Kristen Stallion and Jason Stallion of Nixa, Missouri, and John Precht of Highlands, Texas; great-grandchildren Tristan Stallion and Elizabeth Stallion; Sisters Betty Chesson Duhon and Nelda Chesson Stanley and husband Gene of Lake Charles, La; and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Placid and Ina Chesson; husband Calvin Edward Precht; son Arlie Precht; and great-granddaughter Allison Stallion, all of Lake Charles, La.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel. Reverend Steve Caraway will officiate. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Home.
