Thelma Louise Shirley Babineaux, 78, of Lake Charles, entered into rest Sunday, January 22, 2012 from a local care facility.
Mrs. Babineaux was born in Ruby, LA to Bill and Carmen Shirley and has lived fifty five years in Lake Charles. She co-owned and operated Arctic Refrigeration from 1968-1988. She also served her industry as former President of RSESA. She was very active in supporting her children's interest as she led their dens and packs of Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Blue Birds and Campfire Girls. She was also a member of Women of the Moose of the Moose Lodge of Lake Charles. Mrs. Babineaux enjoyed flower arranging and cooking, especially for Sunday family gatherings. Her most treasured times were those she shared with her children and grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Odell Morein of Lake Charles and Michael Babineaux and wife Carol of Glendale, AZ; five daughters, Dee Verret and Liz Breedlove and husband Jim, both of Roundrock, TX, Ida Cotton and Leila Nichols and husband Gene, both of Lake Charles and Susan Broussard and husband Robbie of Grand Lake; fifteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Shirley of Pollock, LA and Billy Ray Shirley of Monroe, LA and one sister, Regina McKnight of Pollock, LA. She also leaves many "little hearts" she touched as "MawMaw B", having provided child care in her home for nearly ten years.
She was preceded in death by three children, Sheila Morein, Kenneth Smith and Deames Babineaux; her parents; two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Kathy Powell will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday will be from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue Wednesday from 8:00 AM until the time of service.
