Theodore Ted Russell James Blanchette

Theodore Russell James "Ted" Blanchette, 83, of Sulphur, LA died at 3:25 AM on Sunday, March 18, 2012.

Mr. Blanchette was born January 13, 1929 in Orange, TX. He served his country for 1 1/2 years in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he was part of the U.S. Navy boxing team. He retired in 1984 from the Lake Charles Fire Department after thirty-one years of service. Mr. Blanchette loved fishing, hunting, farming, painting and collecting, and loved his Western Cowboy movies. He was a devoted Christian and will always be remembered as a loving husband and father. He will be greatly missed.

Mr. Blanchette is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Bernice Bergeron Blanchette; son, Russell Blanchette and wife Starr of Westlake, LA; daughters, Linda Willis and husband James of Baton Rouge, LA, Sherry Myers and husband David of Snellville, GA and Janell Ramsey and husband Mike of Winder, GA; eight grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild to be announced.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings; and two grandchildren, Joshua Ramsey and Kenny Wayne Willis.

His funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor Danny Torres will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM to 9:40 AM at the funeral home.
