Theresa Cook Grady

Theresa Maria Cook McCann Grady, 74, of Lake Charles passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023 in a local health care facility. Mrs. Grady was a native of Lake Charles and a resident of Sulphur and Lake Charles. A graduate of LaGrange High School. She worked a few different jobs before going to Vista Chemical, now Sasol. She was a person with strong work ethic and held the position of executive secretary till her retirement from Sasol. Mrs. Grady was known as a loving wife, a loving mother and grandmother to all her stepchildren and step grandchildren. She treasured her relationships with her immediate and extended family. She is best characterized as being kind, giving, patient. She was a beautiful, sophisticated southern belle. A beautiful friend to many. She was a blessing to her family and community. She served on the board of directors for the Women’s Shelter for 6 years. She actively supported others in need. She fulfilled her passion to serve others and the community by serving on numerous committees.
Mrs. Grady always made the holidays an extra special time. Great food and special surprises for the kids were always anticipated. She leaves many memories for her family to cherish.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert E. Cook and Marjorie M. Cook. Her husband Robert Lewis Grady; her previous husband Howard Ray McCann, Sr.; stepson Howard Ray McCann, Jr., and stepdaughter Kathy Ann Grady Peltier.
She leaves to cherish her memory, brother of heart John Cook Filippidis and wife Barbara; stepson Todd Wayne McCann and wife Bernetta of Iowa; step daughter in law Tracy McCann of Jennings; stepdaughter Pamela Richard of Lafayette; step grandsons, Tyler Wayne McCann (Sarah) of Moss Bluff; Braiden Kade Peltier and Bryce Kane Peltier, both of Sulphur; John Michael Baque and Katie Baque of Lafayette; Zach McCann (Claire) and Matt McCann (Rachel) both of Tennessee; Andrew McCann, Nathan McCann, Luke McCann (Shelby), and Olivia McCann all of Jennings and many friends.
Memorial Services honoring Theresa’s life will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Friday November 10, 2023 at 4:00 PM. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 2:30 PM and continue until the time of service at the funeral home.
