Theresa Courville DiGiovanni, 82, of Sulphur, Louisiana, passed away on May 1st in Humble Texas due to complications from pneumonia. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, Louisiana from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. A Memorial Service will begin at 6:00 pm. Inurnment Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Highland Memorial Park in Lake Charles. Theresa was born in Lake Dauterive, Louisiana to Moise Courville and Zulma Louviere on April 15, 1932. In 1951, after a chance meeting, she and Paul DiGiovanni fell in love and were married on May 10th, 1951. They remained happily married until Paul's passing in 2002. Her joy and life's work was as a mother. Everything centered around her children, and the example she set as a parent continues to inspire everyone who knew her. She was a devoted wife and loving mother as the DiGiovanni family travelled the world following Paul in his work. She and Paul retired to Sulphur, Louisiana in 1983 and remained there until Paul's death. Between 2002 and 2014, Theresa spent time living in both, Sulphur and Humble, Texas. Theresa was a strong believer in Jesus Christ and put her faith in Him until the end. Her family is at peace, knowing she is even now safe in Heaven. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Anthony DiGiovanni of Sulphur, her only daughter, Donna DiGiovanni Lancon, her brother Moe Courville, her two sisters, Lavinia Edler and Agnes Berard, and her parents, Moise and Zulma Courville. She is survived by four sons, Mike DiGiovanni of Sulphur, Guy DiGiovanni of Sulphur, Victor DiGiovanni of Humble, Texas, and Sean DiGiovanni of Lake Charles, ten grandchildren, Eric, Jeffery, Zach, Kade, Ryan, Christian, Allie, Halie, Brooke, and Madison. In her final days, her greatest pleasure was getting to spend time time with her only great-grandson, Elias, which she was able to do on her birthday three weeks ago. Memorials may be sent to Johnson Funeral Home, and if preferred, donations can be made in her name to the DiGiovanni's favorite charity, St. Jude's Children's Hospital. She will be missed.
