Thomas Edward Lundy, Jr.

April 9, 1928 — August 22, 2012

T.E. Lundy went to be with Jesus Wednesday, August 22, 2012, after battling several health problems in the past year. T. E.'s life was one of love, leadership, discipline and giving. He demonstrated his love for Jesus to his family, friends and community.

He was born in Philadelphia, Mississippi on April 9, 1928 to Thomas Edward Lundy, Sr. and Nedra Cole Lundy. He graduated from Charleston High School in Charleston, Mississippi in 1946 and attended Northwest Mississippi Junior College. After hitch hiking to Lake Charles, Louisiana in 1947 to be near his parents, he enrolled in McNeese and played football, basketball and baseball.

T.E. was an Eagle Scout, following in his father's footsteps, as his father was the Scout Executive for Calcasieu Parish Area. T.E. was a founding member of the Lake Charles Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He also served as a charter member to the Port of Lake Charles Propeller Club and acted as the first non-Texan President of the West Gulf Maritime Association. He was appointed by Governor Edwin Edwards to the Pilots Fee Commission and by Governor Buddy Roemer to the Industrial Development Board.

On January 14, 1950, he married Patricia Helms Lundy. He worked construction until 1954, when he went to work for the Lake Charles Stevedores. He later became President and Chairman of the Board and co-owner of the Stevedores. After selling the company, he remained President and Chairman of the Board and served as a consultant to the new owners until 1999. He also served on the Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Board of Harbor Docking and Towing, Inc. until his death.

Throughout his adult life T.E. taught Sunday school, served as a Deacon and held many other leadership positions at his church. From the middle 1960's until the late 1970's, he coached men's softball and basketball groups, which later became known as the legendary "Trinity A" team.

T.E. is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Helms Lundy; his daughter, Lynn Ray (Jim); sons, Jeff Lundy (Carlena), Hunter Lundy (Julie) and Matt Lundy (Marti). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Peggy Miller; and one grandson, Christopher Lundy.

Interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, August 24, 2012 from 5 until 7 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until service time.
