Thomas Ewell Guidry II, 44, passed away suddenly on July 22, 2017 at a local hospital.
Tommie was most known for his love of his Cajun culture and playing Cajun music. He played many instruments but was most accomplished with the accordion. He won many Cajun music contests and awards including, South West Squeezbox Shootout for top accordion player, and Cajun French Music Association Newcomer of the Year. Some of the many bands he played with were: the Cajun Aces, Midnight Ramblers, Cajun Cowboyz, Platin Playboys, and Laccasine Playboys. Tommie was also an accomplished combo welder. His family fondly remembers his smile, his laugh, and the way he always told stories using funny sound effects. Tommie was also a loving father and husband. Even after his death, Tommie was able to impact the lives of others by being an organ donor that has helped at least three other people.
He is survived by his son, Haydon Thomas Guidry and his mother Sonya Sloan; son and daughter, Gavon Wayne Thomas Guidry and Cassidy Guidry and their mother Shawna Guidry; parents, Ewell and Alice Guidry; siblings, Leonard Guidry and wife Tammy of Lake Charles, Russell Guidry of Lake Charles, Warren Guidry and wife Jan of Port Neches, TX, Quintin Guidry and wife Dawn of Fannett, TX, and Alyson Guidry Dobson of Lake Charles; Godmother, Susan Matte of Crestview, FL; Godchildren, Jacob Guidry, and Chandler Guidry; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Thomas and Gladys Guidy I; maternal grandparents, Lorenza and Eva Matte; and Godfather, MSGT James A. Tryon.
A funeral service will be held at 7PM on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Home. Father Wayne LeBleu will officiate. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home following the service. Visitation will begin at 10AM on Wednesday July 26 at the funeral home. Special music by friends will begin at 6PM followed by a rosary at 6:30PM.
