Thomas "Tom" Fred Duncan, Jr., 80, of Lake Charles died at 11:45 PM on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 in a local hospital. Mr. Duncan was born on April 4, 1933 in Gooberhill, TX, to the late Thomas Fred Duncan, Sr. and Mamie Duncan. He graduated from high school in Mauriceville, TX. Mr. Duncan enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed at Chennault and served in Greenland as a medic before being honorably discharged. He joined Hercules in Westlake and took an early retirement in 1986. Following retirement, Mr. Duncan moved to Eagle Nest, NM with his beloved wife, Zella, where they both ran several shops on Main Street. Mr. Duncan was an accomplished skier and was a ski instructor at Angel Fire Ski Resort. He was also a competitive snowboarder, twice winning the National Snowboard Championship. He was a long time Deacon at Westwood Baptist Church in Westlake and was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 4 years, Pat Rogers Duncan; four sons, Tommy Duncan and wife Joanna, Steven Duncan and wife Tammie, Mark Duncan and wife Teri, and Dan Duncan and wife Robyn; and two step children, Patty Brown and husband Mark and Phillip Rogers and wife Shelia. He was a loving grandfather to 12 grandchildren, Summer Duncan Templeton, Luke, Delaine, Brett, and Emilie Duncan, Erin Duncan Marvin , Harrison Frutiger, and Brian, Thomas IV, Peyton, Sarah, and Molly Duncan; 3 step grandchildren; one great grandchild; and one step great grandchild. He was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 54 years, Zella Marie Stephens Duncan; a brother, Maurice Duncan; and two grandsons. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Glad Tiding Assembly of God. Pastor Stephen Perry will officiate. Burial will follow in Rigmaiden Cemetery in Dequincy, LA under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Saturday in the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Sunday in the church from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM.
