Thomas Leo Duhon

Thomas Leo Duhon, 86, died peacefully in his residence on Friday, Augsut 20, 2010, with his beloved family at his side.

Born in Lafayette Parish, to Ulysses and Alice Stutes Duhon, Mr. Duhon grew up in the Lafayette area. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. Following his tour of duty, Mr. Duhon married Georgie Ann Bourque, and together they raised their family in Lake Charles. He worked as a carman for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 35 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Catholic faith.

Mr. Duhon enjoyed building and repairing grandfather clocks. He was an avid golfer and musician. He spent many hours playing the keyboard and started singing as he played after he reached age 70, bringing joy not only to himself, but especially to those he lovedhis family.

Mr. Duhon is survived by his wife of 64 years, Georgie Bourque Duhon; five sons, T. J. Duhon and wife Norma of Oden, Arkansas, Charles Duhon and wife Melanie of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Gary Duhon of Maurice, Louisiana, Bobby Duhon of Austin, Texas, and Brian Duhon of Lake Charles; one daughter, Cherie Norsworthy and husband Greg, also of Lake Charles; three brothers, Jesse Duhon of Lake Charles, Dan Duhon of Topsy and Willie Duhon of Maurice; two sisters, Agnes Guidry of Carencro and Alta Timmons of Thibodaux, LA; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 23, 2010, at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. The Rev. Keith Pellerin will officiate. Interment will be at Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Sunday from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM, with a scriptural rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM in the funeral home.
