Thomas Matthew Courville

Thomas Matthew "Matt" Courville, 40, of Lake Charles passed away Saturday, February 06, 2016 in a Houston hospital.

Mr. Courville lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He was a graduate of Sam Houston High School and attended McNeese State University. He worked his younger years in construction and as a Salesman for Prien Memorial Park. He was a Car Salesman for many years for Roundtree Dodge and Hunter Dodge. He also took great pride in working as a Lieutenant at the Louisiana Department of Corrections. Mr. Courville loved all genres of music and attending concerts. He was an avid sports fan, especially wrestling and LSU football and attending their games. His greatest love was his sons and his family. He will be most remembered for unique sense of humor and his compassion for others.

Mr. Courville leaves to honor his memory, two sons, Steven Douglas Courville and Austin Matthew Courville of, CA; his father, Michael Brian Courville and wife Angel of Spring Creek, NV; mother, Karen Simmons Fontenot of Welsh; two brothers, Joshua Courville of Kinder and Carter "C.J." Fontenot of Houma; four sisters, Julie Courville of Conroe, TX, Kari Courville Wall and husband Jared of Denham Springs, Teressa Schreve Stallion and husband Kevin of Lake Charles and Amanda Schreve Chargois and husband R.J. of Sulphur; brother-in-law, Matthew Tyler of Conroe, TX; grandparents, Opal Courville of Lake Charles and Shirley Simmons of Welsh, Susan and John Morris of Ragley and A.J. Duplichan and wife Glenda of Westlake and many nieces nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Clifford Courville and Marvin Simmons; sister, Laura Courville Tyler and nieces, Khristen Abshire and Allie Stallion.

Funeral services will be 10:00AM Tuesday, February 09, 2016 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend W. H. Yarbrough will officiate. Interment will follow in Ritchie Cemetery. Visitation Monday will be from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue Tuesday from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
