Thomas "Pete" Palir, 89, of Lake Charles, entered into eternal rest Saturday, July 30, 2011 from a Jennings hospital.
Mr. Palir was born, raised and educated in Freeland, PA. He has lived nearly sixty years in Lake Charles. He served the United States Army Air Force as an Air Plane and Engine Mechanic. Mr. Palir retired after nearly thirty years as an operator for Cities Service. He enjoyed music as he was an accomplished violinist with a passion for the orchestra, big band and classical music. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening.
Mr. Palir was a devoted Christian, a member of Living Way Pentecostal Church and a dedicated family man who adored his beloved wife and children.
He leaves to honor his memory, six children, Sylvia Carter and Rev. Wayne D. of N. Little Rock, AR, Paulette Nichols and Rev. David of Lake Charles, Rita Moore and Rev. David of Jackson, MS, Vera Buxton and Rev. David of Dequincy, Rev. John Palir, III and Debbie of Lake Charles and Laura Lewellen and Officer Michael of Arlington, TN; fifteen grandchildren; twenty- one great- grandchildren; one sister, Mary Petrovich of Camdon-Wyoming, DE; cousin, Phil Voystock of Freeland, PA and many others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Julia Stower Palir II and his wife, Kathleen Savant Palir.
Funeral services will be at 11:00AM Tuesday, August 2, 2011 in Living Way Pentecostal Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Bishop Charles Nugent will officiate. Interment will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation Monday will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00PM in the funeral home. Visitation Tuesday will be from 9:00AM until the time of service in the church.
