Thomas T. Duhon, 85, of Lake Arthur passed away at 11:10 PM on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 in a Crowley hospital. Mr. Duhon was born on August 2, 1930 in Cameron Parish, LA where he lived all of his life until Hurricane Rita forced him to move to Lake Arthur, LA. He was a graduate of Creole High School. Following graduation, Mr. Duhon joined the US Army and fought during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) for a total of 26 years. He worked as a bridge tender for the Gibbstown Bridge and Ferry for 11 years and retired as an equipment operator. Mr. Duhon was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church when he resided in Cameron and most recently belonged to Our Lady of the Lake in Lake Arthur. He also belonged to the VFW in Creole and the American Legion Post #176 in Creole. He was a very active man who liked to stay busy and enjoyed the outdoors. Mr. Duhon was a cattleman and would also trap, hunt, and he loved to garden. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 62 years, Bertha Boudoin Duhon; three sons, Rickey Duhon (Debbie) of Lake Charles, Tony Duhon (Rhonda) of Little Chenier, and Glenn Duhon of Lake Charles; a sister, Mymae Savoie of Creole; four grandchildren, Annette, Adam, Alice, and Arlis Duhon; two step grandchildren, Jennifer and Carl Pierce; fourteen great grandchildren with twins on the way; and two step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nita and Leva Duhon; a brother-in-law, John Savoie; and two great grandchildren, Logan and Abbigail. A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 13, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Creole. Fr. Herbert May and Fr. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will follow in Our Lady of the Marsh Cemetery in Little Chenier under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Thursday in the funeral home from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Friday from 8:00 AM until leaving for the church at noon.
