Thomas "Tommy" Henry Morrissey

Thomas “Tommy” Henry Morrissey, 68, of Lake Charles was called to Heaven at 7:58 AM on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 in his residence.

 

Tommy was born in Milwaukee, WI on March 7, 1949 to Owen John “Sandy” and Jeanne Porche Morrissey. He moved to Lake Charles in 1956, was a graduate of LaGrange High School in 1968, and attended McNeese State University until being drafted in 1970 for Vietnam. He served in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1972.

 

Tommy met and married the love of his life and they spent 44 happy years together. He leaves his wife, Judy Courville Morrissey; son, John Thomas Morrissey; and a daughter, Jill Allyson Morrissey to mourn his passing.

 

He was a very hard worker, retiring from Lake Area Dental Lab after more than 40 years in that field.

 

Tommy was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, snow skiing, water skiing, and motocross racing, was an avid golfer, and enjoyed building anything with his hands. His new passion was RVing.

 

Those who will miss him dearly are his sisters, Kathleen Morrissey Delaney and Cynthia Morrissey; step mother, Dolores Morrissey; step brothers, Brantley Bardin and Cade Bardin (Sunshine) and their children; his sisters by marriage, Lynn Bellard, Janice Rayne (Lance), Denise Goodman (Dwight), Rebecca Vining (David), and Annette McNemar (Allen); numerous nieces and nephews along with grand nieces, nephews, and even some great grands. He left behind many friends and golfing buddies. Special friends that will miss him are Chet Selby, Brian Ortego, and best bud, Dan Elliott.

 

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 8, 2017 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. Fr. Keith Pellerin and Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM and a Cursillo rosary being held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Friday in the funeral home from 8:00 AM until leaving for the church at 9:30 AM.

 

Pallbearers will be: Dan Elliott, Chris Hood, Chris Gentry, Billy Bellard, Wallace Browne, and John Boggan and honorary pallbearer will be: Ronnie Ardoin.
