Thomas Tuminello, Sr.

Thomas Tuminello, Sr., 88, died Friday April 26, 2013 at a local hospital with his loving family at his side.

He was born in Shreveport to Charles C. and Margaret Mendina Tuminello on March 5, 1925. He attended Fair Park High School and Business College in Shreveport and moved to Lake Charles in 1947.

Mr. Tuminello owned and operated Lake City Beverage Sales for forty-seven years.

Mr. Tuminello served in the U. S. Army during World War II and participated in the Invasion of Normandy on D-Day. He was a former member of W.B. Williamson Post # 1 of the American Legion.

Mr. Tuminello was a former member of the Young Men's Business Club, a member of the Board of the Lake Charles Country Club and a Board Member of the McNeese Foundation. Mr. Tuminello also served on the financial board of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. He was also an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Cowboy Club and served for a number of years as President of the Beer Industry League.

Mr. Tuminello was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church for 43 years.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Phil and A.J. Tuminello, and sister, Doris Atkins.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 65 years, Delores Fertitta Tuminello; son Thomas Tuminello, Jr.; daughter, Marsha Topham and husband Alvin, all of Lake Charles; sister, Mary Lynn Johnson and husband Phillip, Houston, TX; three grandchildren, Drew Topham, Las Vegas, NV; Margaret Tuminello, Lake Charles, and Leah Shiels and husband Gene, Houston, TX,

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Monday at St. Margaret's Catholic Church. The Revs. Bill Miller and Alan Trouille and the Rev. Deacon Glen Viau will officiate. Burial will in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Sunday night with a rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM.
