Thomas W. Biven, Jr.

Thomas Wesley Biven, Jr., 79, of Lake Charles passed away at 6:15 PM on Monday, August 10, 2015 in his residence surrounded by his family. Mr. Biven was born on August 5, 1936 in Eunice, NM and was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles where he was a graduate of LaGrange High School. Mr. Biven served this country in the US Army before beginning his career with the Lake Charles Stevedores where he retired after many years of service. He was an avid supporter of the military and law enforcement. He took great pride in gardening and he enjoyed the outdoors but most important to him were his family, especially his grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Carolyn Williams Biven; two sons, Mark Biven (Danna) of Lake Charles and Abel Biven (Estelle) of Reeves; and three grandchildren, Devin Bourque of Lake Charles, Lauren Biven of Lake Charles, and Logan Biven of Reeves. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pansy and Thomas W. Biven, Sr.; a sister, Sammie Bertrand of Dequincy; and a brother, Wilbur Biven of Lake Charles. A funeral service will be held at 6:30 PM on Thursday, August 13, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Rob Walls will officiate. Visitation will begin on Thursday at 2:00 PM and will continue following the services until 9:00 PM. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Heart of Hospice. They were most caring and compassionate during their care of Mr. Biven. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
