Thora Ivera Myers Donaldson

Thora Ivera Myers Donaldson, 87, of Westlake, LA entered into Heaven at 2:28 PM on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 from a local hospital.


Mrs. Donaldson was born January 11, 1924 to Frank and Ethel Myers in Long Beach, CA. She was raised in Ohio and has lived nearly forty years in the Lake area. She, along with her husband, owned and operated Conoco Service Station on Cities Service Highway. She enjoyed working picture puzzles and crossword puzzles.


Mrs. Donaldson was a devoted member of Westlake United Methodist Church where she founded and led the Food Pantry for twenty years. She was recently recognized by the City of Westlake, as they named May 14th as Thora Donaldson Day. She was also an active member of UMW for thirty years and participated in numerous mission trips.


Mrs. Donaldson will be most remembered for her unconditional love, as she was a giving, caring and selfless woman.


Mrs. Donaldson is survived by her sons, Robert "Bob" Donaldson of Westlake and Larry Donaldson and wife Betsy of Springfield, OH; daughter, Pamela Jean Wiese and husband Richard of Sulphur; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years, Forrest Wesley Donaldson; daughter, Christena Ivera Breaux; grandchildren, Valerie Breaux and Steve Allen Donaldson; great-grandchild, Amiee Ivera Breaux; her parents and three brothers.


Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, October 3, 2011 in Westlake United Methodist Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Reverend Betty Northen will officiate. Interment will follow in Farquhar Cemetery in Sulphur. Visitation Sunday will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM in the funeral home. Visitation Monday will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service in the church.
