Tina Marie Keever

Tina Marie Keever, 66, of Sulphur, Louisiana, died on Saturday, January 27, 2024, after courageously enduring a series of chronic health issues.

Tina was born on May 13, 1957 to Rena and Robert Vincent. Always strong-willed, she left school and home early to start her own family. Tina had a big heart, an outgoing personality, and was not afraid to speak her mind. In her younger days, she worked as a waitress at Pitt Grill and you could hear her coming by the bells she wore on her shoes. She had a smile for everyone and never met a stranger.

Tina was a hard worker who took pride in caring for what she had. She liked to keep a clean and tidy house and was full of cliches like, “This carpet picks up everything but men and money!” To relax, she enjoyed working TV Guide Crossword puzzles and once went through a Romance novel phase. Tina loved butterflies and boudin, and one of her favorite movies was The Big Lebowski.

Before returning home to Louisiana, Tina spent several decades living in the foothills of North Carolina where she and her husband adopted a flock of disabled and outcast chickens, spent time with their dogs, George and Petie, and had the joy of helping raise their young grandson. She made the best gumbo and beef tips & gravy east of the Mississippi, so it’s a wonder her daughter became a vegetarian as a teenager. Perhaps this is why she called her son her “rice and gravy baby.”

These days, Tina enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows, especially old westerns. She loved chatting up and getting to know her caregivers and aides, looked forward to her afternoon cup of coffee, and made it her job to look out for her roommate Miss Rita. Tina’s family can’t quite believe she’s gone – she was so stubborn and strong-willed, they thought for sure she would outlive them all.

Tina is preceded in death by her eldest son, Michael; father, Robert; step-father, Cleve Wayne Vincent; and her beloved mother, Rena.

Left to treasure her memory are her husband, Randy Keever; daughter, Brandi Henry; son, Josh Henry; sisters, Sharon Couvillion and Clara Taylor; brothers, Neal and Leonard Vincent; sister-in-law, Carrie Farque; aunt, Carol Richardson; and her two grand-children, Michael Clay of North Carolina and Riley Sabine of Oregon, both of whom knew her as “Nanna.”

The family would like to express gratitude to Holly Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the care they provided Tina during the last year of her life. Thank you for providing her community and a semblance of home.

Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Family will gather privately to remember Tina and share stories of her wild and precious life.
