Tom George “T.G.” Babineaux, 86, of Lake Charles entered into Heaven Sunday, February 21, 2021 from the comfort of his daughter’s home.
Mr. Babineaux was born June 07, 1934 to Lawrence and Lilla Roger Babineaux in Iowa, LA. He was raised in South Lake Charles and has been a lifelong resident of the Lake area. During his younger years he had a very colorful work history while working his way to a permanent position with Southern Pacific Railroad. Once he attained his position, he continued to build houses on the side until the late 90’s. Mr. Babineaux retired a Switchman with forty-one years of service. During his younger years he enjoyed dancing and his later years, vegetable gardening. His down time was often dedicated to giving and helping others. Mr. Babineaux was a man of great faith and prayer, involved in the church, with a high level of importance in raising his family in church and a Catholic education for his granddaughter. He was an active member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church where he volunteered for countless responsibilities and was an usher as long as he was able. He then started his day every day with a televised rosary and Mass. He will be remembered as an admirable man of his generation who took pride in working hard to provide for his family.
He leaves to honor his memory, one daughter, Carolyn Sue Cagle; one son, Tommy Babineaux and wife Tammie; one granddaughter, Kortnie Babineaux Miller and husband Troy, all of Lake Charles, his extended family, Marc Maes of Lake Charles and his children, Nolan Maes and his wife Sara of Houston, TX and Logan Maes and wife Kennedi of Lake Charles and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-eight years, Del Marie Johnson Babineaux; son-in-law, William David Cagle; four brothers, Burdon Babineaux, Nelson Babineaux, Walter Babineaux and Ernest Babineaux; three sisters, Effie Mae Mullinax, Nora Bell Blumrich and Shirley Ann Crochet.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 1:30 PM Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church under the direction Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor Daniel Torres will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service in the church. A rosary will be recited at 12:00 PM.
