Tommy Joe Rimes, 58, of Lake Charles passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018.
Mr. Rimes was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. He was a 1979 graduate of LaGrange High School where he played football. A construction manager, project manager and schedule planner for various companies on the gulf coast, Mr. Rimes furthered his education with many specialized training classes throughout his career. During his younger years he loved working out and enjoyed training with his wife for competition bodybuilding. He has always enjoyed duck and goose hunting, boating and spending time on the river with friends and family. One of his favorite pass times was cooking barbeque, fish, and gumbo. He loved listening and dancing to music of the 70’s and 80’s. He was a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church; made his ACTS retreat in March and for the past year, studied with Come Lord Jesus bible study group. Mr. Rimes will be most remembered for his kind, gentle heart and for his love and devotion as caregiver to his wife, his best friend, since she became disabled twelve years ago. His greatest pride was his two sons and two grandchildren. He was loved by all.
He leaves to honor his memory, his wife of 36 years, Kim Johnson Rimes of Lake Charles; two sons, Jason Paul Rimes and wife Jennifer and Aaron Beau Rimes and fiancé Patricia, both of Lake Charles; two grandchildren, Jamison Beau Rimes and Makenna Jai Rimes; mother, Helen Buller Rimes of Lake Charles; two sisters, Sharon “RunRun” Davis and Carol Rimes Manuel and husband Brent, both of Lake Charles; one sister-in-law, Jan Johnson Whaley and husband Ricky; four brothers-in-law, Johnny Johnson and wife Brigitte, Phillip Johnson and wife Kathy, David Johnson and wife Bridgitte and Gus Johnson; many nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Carroll Rimes.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, September 17, 2018 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata. Visitation Sunday will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with an ACTS rosary beginning at 7:00 PM. Visitation Monday will be from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
