Travis Manning, Jr.

Lt. Travis Manning, Jr., 70 of Lake Charles died at 12:54 PM on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 in a local hospital.


Lt. Manning was born on February 27, 1943 in Beaumont, TX and lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He attended Lake Charles High School before joining the U.S. Air Force as a military police officer, and served in the Vietnam War. He then continued his career in service with the Lake Charles Police Department, retiring as a Lieutenant after 20 years of service. Lt. Manning was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). In his earlier years, he assisted his father in running their family business Travis' Bomber Grill.


He enjoyed fishing and watching hockey in his spare time.


Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Wanda Manning of Dallas, TX; two daughters, Debbie Mathis and husband Todd of Lake Charles and Teresa Diorio and husband Anthony of Allen, TX; a son, Travis Manning, III of Dallas, TX; four grandchildren, Tanner and Tyler Mathis of Lake Charles and Blake and Hannah Diorio of Allen, TX; and two siblings, Brenda Breaux and the late Algie Breaux of Bell City and Kenneth E. Manning and wife Wanda of Lake Charles.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Travis Manning, Sr.


A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 7, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Steve James will officiate. Cremation will follow the services. Visitation will begin on Saturday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Sunday from 12:00PM until the start of the service.
