Troy Ned Humphreys, Sr.

December 5, 1927 — June 28, 2015

Troy N. Humphreys, Sr., 87, of Lake Charles passed away Sunday, June 28, 2015 in the comfort of his home. Mr. Humphreys was a native of Plainview, Arkansas and has lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He proudly served the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, attained a Bachelor Degree in Business and Agriculture from McNeese State University and worked over forty years as an Instrumentation Technologist for CITGO Petroleum. Mr. Humphreys enjoyed working with his roses and vegetable gardens and especially looked forward to Friday morning Pool games with his friends at the Senior Center. He was an admirable Christian man, and an active member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God, where he served over thirty years as a member of the Deacon Board, countless years as an Usher and Sunday school teacher and was a founding member of the Royal Ranger Program. Mr. Humphreys will be most remembered for his love and devotion to his Lord and Savior, his beloved wife and his family. His greatest joy was his grandchildren. He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of sixty-two years, Joy Douglass Humphreys of Lake Charles; three daughters, Connie Joy Gormly (Henry), Susan Frances Humphreys and Monica Lynn Gaspard (Derryl), all of Lake Charles; one son, Troy Ned Humphreys, Jr. (Michelle) of Montgomery, TX; ten grandchildren, Marlon Carnahan, Jennifer Forest, Heather Burton, Jeremy Gormly, Ryan Gaspard, Josh Humphreys, Abbey Humphreys, Jillian Gaspard, Annie Humphreys and Connor Gaspard; seven great-grandchildren and another on the way; one twin brother, Toy Humphreys; three sisters, Sylvia Pennington, Ivy Marler and Bonnie Davison and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, July 01, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Marvin Douglass will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
