Troy Raymond Ryder, aged 60, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024, in Magnolia, TX. Born on December 22, 1963, in Lake Charles to Kermit and Jean Ryder, Troy was a proud graduate of Lake Charles High School. He furthered his education at McNeese State University, earning his degree as a Registered Nurse.
In his early career, Troy worked as a meat cutter for Market Basket. Upon relocating to Magnolia, TX, in 2008, he dedicated himself to various nursing roles. Most notably, he served as the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer at Kingwood Pines Hospital for many years until his passing.
While residing in Lake Charles, Troy was an active member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church. After moving to Texas, he became part of the Fellowship of the Woodlands community.
Troy was renowned for his craftsmanship in making boudin and sausage, with many agreeing that he made the best in town. He had a deep-seated passion for golf, enjoyed fishing, and was an avid fan of football (GEAUX Tigers!) and baseball (Go Stro’s!). Though, Troy’s true passion resided in his love and devotion to his family.
Troy is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Trisha Trahan Ryder; his children, Dawson Troy Ryder of Pasadena, MD, Emily Renee Ryder of College Station, TX, and Eldest son, Christopher John Ryder of Moss Bluff (son of Tracee Kircus Hebert of Moss Bluff); his mother, Jean Ryder of Lake Charles; his brothers, Randy Ryder (Donna) of Inlet Beach, FL, and Vic Ryder (Charlotte) of Bryant, AR; and his grandson, Wyatt John Basone of Welsh, LA. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kermit John Ryder.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Marcus Wade. A gathering of family and friends will precede the service, starting at 10:00 AM, and continue until the start of the rosary at 12:00 PM.
