Tyrus Ralph "Pete" Salter

Funeral services for Tyrus Ralph Pete Salter will be held at First Baptist Church in Sulphur, where Mr. Salter was a member, at 10a.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2011, with Dr. David Holder officiating. Burial will take place at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Florien, LA at 3p.m. Born in Florien, LA on August 13, 1921, Mr. Salter died at home in Sulphur on Monday, September 19, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Salter was married to the former Katherine Dale Murphy of Fisher, LA for 68 wonderful years. A World War II Veteran, Mr. Salter served with the United States Third Army Combat Engineers during the conflict in Europe. After returning to the states, Mr. Salter and his wife Dale moved to Sulphur where he began a career with Cities Service Oil Company and retired after 35 years of employment. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Katherine Dale Salter, two daughters; Cathy Salter Yaap of College Station, TX and Elizabeth Salter Broussard of St. Francisville, LA and one son; Ty Salter of Woodstock, GA. Mr. Salter is also survived by four grandchildren; Elizabeth MacNaughton of Baytown, TX, Tyndall Yaap of Sugarland, TX, Mary Katherine Slocum of Dallas, TX and Trey Salter of Haiti and five great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Robison Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 from 5-8p.m. and will resume on Thursday at the church from 9a.m. until time of service.
