Urdell Long

Urdell Long, 75, of Gillis passed away Monday, July 08, 2013 in a local healthcare facility.

Mr. Long was born in Lake Charles and was a lifelong resident of the Moss Bluff and Gillis areas. He worked over thirty years in Maintenance at PPG Industries. Mr. Long enjoyed working in the yard, vegetable gardening and raising chickens. He especially loved fishing, camping and traveling. He was formerly a member of Gillis Baptist Church. Mr. Long will be most remembered as a good man with a kind, generous heart.

He leaves to honor his memory, one brother, Stanley L. Long of Longville; sister, Bonnie Sullivan and husband Joe of Longville; step-son Larry Ogea of Lake Charles; many step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Reeves Long; parents, Collin and Eula Roberts Long; sister-in-law, Charlotte Long and a great-niece, Trudy Rainwater.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 10, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Kenneth Pate will officiate. Interment will follow in Creel Memorial Gardens. Visitation Wednesday will be from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM in the funeral home.
