Funeral services for Veda Callendar Freeman, 91, of DeQuincy, will be held on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 1 pm at Robison Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Shirley officiating. Burial will follow in Big Woods Cemetery, Edgerly. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 6, 2011 from 4-9 pm at Robison Funeral Home. Mrs. Freeman was born on April, 8, 1919 in Logansport, Louisiana and passed away on March 4, 2011 in Sulphur, Louisiana. She was a native of Clinton, Louisiana coming to DeQuincy in 2003. She loved to do crossword and jigsaw puzzles, gardening, and dancing. She worked many years as a waitress. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Veda was preceded in death by her husband, George Freeman, Sr.; parents, Lily and Clarence Callendar; one daughter: Gladys Morgan and one son-in-law, and three grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters: Barbara Abshire of Sulphur and Lucy Higgins and husband James of DeQuincy; two sons: George T. Freeman Jr. and wife Allene of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana, and Albert (Dick) Freeman of Clinton, Louisiana; one brother: Charles Callendar and wife Lena of Fairbanks, Alaska; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
