Velma Alice Langley, 82, passed away at her residence surrounded by family on Saturday, May 16, 2020.
She was born on December 10, 1937 to Gertrude and Eddie Bertrand, Sr. in Richie, LA. Velma was an LPN for many years in Lake Charles before retiring. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was also dedicated to her Catholic faith and a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church. She enjoyed saying the rosary and praying every morning.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Sherry Vidrine (Greg) and Jean Langley (Cindi); grandchildren, Raven Langley, Brennon Langley, Tiffany Landreneau, Tori Craddock, and Robert Victory, III; great grandchildren, Hunter Doyle, Adian Doyle, Makenzie Paramo, Jay Michon, Jessica Michon, Blaine Craddock, Nadia Langley, and Emmett Langley; first husband, J.C. Langley; sister, Loretta Shoemake (Cliff); and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Toni Langley; granddaughter, Amber Goodman-Doyle; her parents; sisters, Jeanelle Vincent and Juanita Jones; and brother Eddie Bertrand, Jr.
Her funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 11 a.m. Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will take place in Green Oaks Cemetery in Kinder, LA following the service. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Thursday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.
