Velton Nell Long Vincent, 82, of Lake Charles, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013 in the comfort of her home. Mrs. Vincent was born in Port Arthur, TX and has lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She was a graduate of Marion High School. She worked over sixty years, along side her husband, assisting the ownership and operations of Louisiana Radio Communications. She also worked nearly twenty years as a switchboard operator for St. Patrick's Hospital. During this stage of her life, Mrs. Vincent followed her children to Blue Birds, Cub Scouts, school and church functions as she grew to become a pillar of influence in the eyes of many young people. She was a woman of faith, a member of First Pentecostal Church as a young child, married in the church and was a lifelong member and active participant in countless events. She loved to travel, sew and "embellish". Mrs. Vincent will be most remembered as a selfless woman who helped everyone, judged no one, with a heart and smile that brightened any room. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of fifty-nine years, Robert S. Vincent of Lake Charles; one son, Perry Vincent and wife Lenda of Lake Charles; one daughter, Celia Ann Vincent Case of Lake Charles; one brother, Verbia Long and wife Barbara of DeRidder; two grandchildren, Jon Garret Vincent and wife Britney and Stormi Danielle Sonnier and husband Clayton all of Moss Bluff; and two great-grandchildren, Adalee and Laila. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jackson Loren Long and Onie Weaver Long; two brothers, Virgil Long and Vernon Long and two sisters, Vergie Long Leslie and Verda Long Elson. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at First Pentecostal Church of Lake Charles under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Reverend Jeffery Ralston will officiate. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation Tuesday will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM in the funeral home. Visitation Wednesday will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service in the church.
