Vennice "Butch" Maloney

Vennice Albert Maloney, better known as “Butch “courageously fought his 11-month health battle.  He entered eternal peace and healing Saturday, December 18, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Maloney was born October 10, 1953, in Lake Charles, LA., where he lived most of his life.  He was a 1973 graduate of LaGrange High School and later served four years in the USAF.  His career consisted of various jobs as an industrial scheduler until his retirement.

“Butch” was a man with a servant’s heart.  His immeasurable loyalty was not only to his country, but also to his family and friends.  The avid LSU fan enjoyed tailgating, cooking, hunting, throwing annual Christmas parties and especially family and class reunions.  That was his way of keeping the generations of family and friends connected while making memories and keeping traditions alive.  However, nothing made him shine brighter than to spend time with his daughters, grandchildren and his best friend, Buster.

Preceded in death are grandparents, Etta and Eddie Fontenot; and parents, Betty and Joseph Maloney.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Mindi Maloney and Lacy Maloney; grandchildren, Dylan Jeansonne and Joslyn Jeansonne; great-grandson, Karter; brother, Richard Maloney (Vickie); sisters, Pam Austin (Jim), Pat Iles (John), Paula Maloney, Pricilla Soileau (Guy), and his “5^th sister by choice”, Angela Fontenot Miller (Robert); lone surviving uncles, Carl Fontenot and Ed Maloney; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and Godchildren.

Visitation will be held at University Baptist Church Tuesday, December 21, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM to the service starting at 9:00 AM.  Father Andy DeRouen will officiate.  Burial with military honors will follow at Consolata Cemetery, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
