Vera Pat Anderson

Vera "Pat" Yvonne Patterson Anderson, 90, of Lake Charles, LA died peacefully on Thursday, August 11, 2011 in her residence.

Mrs. Anderson was born February 24, 1921 in DeRidder, LA and has lived in Lake Charles for over seventy years. She retired as the bookkeeper in the late 80's for Gayle's Hardware after fifteen years and was a charter member of University United Methodist Church. She was an active member of her church and various volunteer groups in Lake Charles, including the Pink Ladies at Christus St. Patrick Hospital. She was an excellent golfer during her younger years, and enjoyed traveling and fishing with her husband.

Mrs. Anderson is survived by her sisters-in-law, Edwina "Pud" Anderson; sister-in-law / long-term caregiver, Mary Patterson; nieces / caregivers, Paula Anderson and Patti Hitchcock; niece, Rannie Kelly; precious dog, Josh, plus numerous other nieces-nephews, great nieces-nephews; and great great nieces-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Noble Morris Anderson; parents, James and Vera Patterson, Sr.; brother, James C. Patterson, Jr.; and sister, June Mullins.

Her funeral service will be at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Senior Pastor Charlie Langford and Pastoral Assistant Marge Robinson will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.

Mrs. Anderson's family would like to extend a special thank you and blessing to her Stephen's Minister, Faith McCain for the spiritual support given over the past few years of her illness.
