Verdie Baier

Verdie Meyers Baier, 88, passed away on September 5, 2017 at a local hospital.

Mrs. Baier was born on December 10, 1928 in Iowa, LA. She attended Fenton High School and later resided in Westlake, LA with her husband Theodore “Ted” Baier and family. In her later years she resided in New Mexico and often spoke about how much she loved returning home to Louisiana to enjoy the Southern Hospitality of South Louisiana. Throughout her life she was an avid reader of books and later found enjoyment in playing puzzles on her tablet and computer. Her greatest joys in life were her family and time spent with her great grandchildren and her dog, Teddy Bear.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Becton; grandson, John Briggs Becton and his fiancée Rebecca “Becky” Spears; granddaughter, Wendy Yvonne Becton; grandson, Christopher James Hurley; great granddaughter, Carolyn “Niki” Nicole Lowe; great grandson, John Michael Becton; and two great great grandsons, Cash Emmitt Lowe and, Colton Gregory Lowe.

Mrs. Baier is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Alzida Meyers; husband, Theodore “Ted” Baier; daughter, Debra Hurley; and four siblings.

Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home and her final resting place will be at Westlake Memorial Park.
