Verna Lee Kyle

February 27, 1940 — February 9, 2017

Mrs. Verna Lee LaSalle Kyle, 76, gained her wings on Thursday, February 9, 2017, knowing she was loved yet tired.  Known to those closest to her as Momo or Aunt Babbie, Mrs. Kyle was born and raised in Sulphur until she moved to Hackberry as a new mother in 1962.  There she and husband Ernest, of what would have been 56 years this month raised their family and became an intricate part of the community.  Mrs. Kyle was a graduate of Sulphur High School and held an associate’s degree in nursing from Sowela.  Her most treasured possessions were her children and grandchildren.   She was a professional worrier, she prayed daily for anyone and everyone that she felt needed it and would often encourage others to join her.  Verna was outspoken for things she believed in, especially her community and her parish of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.  Although not a graduate of Hackberry, she was green and white through and through and a Mustang fan for life!  She had a way of making her nieces and nephews feel special and that they were her favorites.  Verna Lee’s most cherished memories were the countless hours spent; on the rodeo trail with her family, dancing with Ernest, babysitting her grandchildren and talking on the phone. Mrs. Kyle is survived by her children, Kathy Kyle Helmer, Scott Kyle and wife Shaun, and her baby boy, Kenny Kyle; her brother, Porky LaSalle; sister, Ileda LaSalle David; her most adored grandchildren, Kelsey, Barrett and wife Brealynn, Kory, Drew, Zack and Karli.  Verna Lee had numerous godchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins that all were equally loved by her.  Mrs. Kyle was preceded in death by her husband Ernest; son-in-law, Morris Helmer; sister, Carol Sue LaSalle; brother, John LaSalle; and parents, Gus and Rena Trumps LaSalle. A funeral mass will be held Monday, February 13, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hackberry and visitation will begin at 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at St. Peter’s Catholic Hall with a rosary offered for Mrs. Kyle at 6:00 PM.  Mrs. Kyle will be laid to rest beside her love in the Hackberry Cemetery on Monday, February 13, 2017.  Visitation will resume on Monday, February 13, 2017 from 8:00 AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family would request that donations be considered for the Hackberry Cemetery and St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
