Vernon Leroy Roper Sr.

Vernon Leroy Roper, Sr., 85, of Lake Charles, passed away peacefully Sunday July 21, 2019 in a local care facility.

Vernon was a native of Silver Creek, NC and longtime resident of Lake Charles. He Honorably and Faithfully served our country in the United States Air Force and retired after 43 years of loyal service to the Lake Charles Water Company. He will be greatly missed by his loving family.

Preceding him in death are his parents, John (Sr.) and Hattie McDaniel Roper and beloved wife, Rose Marie Ange Roper. Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his three children, Kathy Menard, Gail Richard (Ronnie), and Leroy Roper, Jr.; grandchildren, Allen, Keith, Jason, Laura, Kimberly, and Valerie; Great Grandchildren, Chelci, Garrett, Devon, Trent, Trevor, Trey, Fisher, Gunner, Chandler, Garion,, Brennon, Braydon, Kameron, Hunter, Maggie, and Shelby; great great grandchildren, Maggie, Shelby, Kruz, Kennedy and Everly; and siblings, Claude Roper (Verlie) and Richard Roper (Nancy) and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family of the heart.

Visitation continues Tuesday July 23, 2019 at the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Estes officiating. Burial, with Military Honors, will be alongside his beloved wife at Prien Memorial Park.
