Vernon Torres

Vernon William Torres, 93, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 1:24 PM on Monday, September 25, 2017 in a local hospital.

Mr. Torres was born February 9, 1924 in Galbraith, LA and lived in Anchorage, AK for over forty years. He served his country in the U.S. Army, where he retired as a Sergeant after twenty years of service. Following his military retirement, he worked for the State of Alaska as a Correctional Officer for fourteen years. Mr. Torres was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. He loved fishing and gardening and will be missed dearly.

Mr. Torres is survived by his wife, Joanne Torres; sons, Jerry Torres, Danny Torres, and Donnie Torres, all of Baton Rouge, LA and Darrell Torres of Houston, TX; daughters, Nelda Torres of Leesville, LA, Linda Reed of Deville, LA, and Kathy Schramm of Dixon, IL; sister, Mary Spence of Nederland, TX; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

His cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at a later date.
