Vester E. Cooper

Vester Estel Cooper, 95, of Searcy, Arkansas, passed away on Monday April 10, 2023, with his family at his side at the Springs of Searcy.

Vester was a native of the Bethsadia Community of Sabine Parish, near Many. He was a 1945 graduate of Many High School. He and his late wife, Alice, were longtime residents of Lake Charles, and raised their family there. He worked for many years as a fabricator for Davidson Sash & Door company, then in Westlake for Continental Carbon, and continued working as the janitor for Boulevard Church of Christ before moving to Searcy. Mr. Cooper was a faithful member of Boulevard Church of Christ and most recently served at Cloverdale Church of Christ in Searcy.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Clarence and Carlie Bennett Cooper; beloved wife, Alice Cotton Cooper; son, Phillip Cooper; siblings, Elward Cooper, Vera Ardoin, Ralph Cooper, and Arnold Cooper. Those left to honor and cherish his memories are his children, Jackie Vandever and husband David, Lake Charles; son, Rocky Cooper and wife Kim, Searcy, Arkansas; grandchildren, Matthew Vandever, Hensley, Arkansas; Cody Vandever and Courtney Vandever, both of Lake Charles; Noah Cooper and Chloe Cooper, both of Searcy and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family of the Heart.

Visitation will be on Friday April 14, 2023, at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM, with a Celebration of his life beginning at 10:00 AM with Brian Spicer officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM at Bethsadia Cemetery near Many with burial to follow alongside his beloved wife.
