Vickie Janet Bailey

Vickie Janet Bailey, 73, formerly of Lake Charles, passed away August 26, 2024, in Denver, Colorado with her beloved son, Winston, by her side. 

Vickie, daughter of Reginald Frederick Bailey and Elgin Duncan Bailey, was born in Lake Charles on March 26, 1951. Vickie was a resident of Baton Rouge and worked for the state of Louisiana for over 25 years in various capacities prior to her retirement in 2016. After her retirement, Vickie continued to dedicate her time working for a production company which she thoroughly enjoyed. She became Catholic in 1995 and was an avid member of Sacred Heart Catholic Parish (Baton Rouge). 

Vickie enjoyed life to it’s fullest. Vickie enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and brought a gentle smile with her in everything she did. Vickie was a proud mother, sister, friend, cousin and grandmother. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, spending time with her family, and she was always thinking of the next thing to sew. She brought joy to everyone she encountered. Even at the end, she continued to touch lives with her smile, her heart, and her love for everyone.

Vickie is survived by her son; Winston Rester; two grandchildren, Cole and Eliza Rester, sister; Brenda McCall and her husband, Robert; niece Renee, nephews; Todd and wife Beth; Andre and wife Marianne. She is also survived by her very dear friends Betty, Susan and Cathy whose friendship lasted over 60 years. 

In addition to her beloved parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Reginald Bailey Jr, her sister, Mary Elgin Bailey, her nephew Dru Fontenot, and her cherished Schnauzer Rudy. 

Visitation for friends and family will be Friday, October 4, 2024, from 9:00am to 12:30pm with a rosary to be recited at 12:00pm at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St. Lake Charles, LA. 70605. A memorial service will follow, at 1:00pm at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 3939 Lake St, Lake Charles, LA 70605.
