Vina Richard

Vina Thibodeaux Richard, 87, went to be with her Lord on Saturday May 3, 2014. She was a retired school bus driver with the Calcasieu Parish School Board. Vina was on the Fire Board, lay minister to the sick and shut-ins, and Eucharistic minister at St. Henry's Catholic Church. For 40 years she was volunteer at Martin De Porres Nursing Home. Vina was a devoted wife to her husband of 69 years, Joseph Ray Richard, Sr. She was the mother of six children, Elaine Shaw, Cathy Lowry (Billy), Ann Broussard (Randy), Joseph Richard, Jr. (Nancy), Michael Richard, and Sylvia Guidry. She had 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death, by her parents, 9 siblings, and 2 grandsons, Rick and Adam Guidry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be a 1:00 pm Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Saint Henry's Catholic Church. Abbot James Liprie as homilist and Monsignor Daniel Torres will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm Monday, May 5, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, LA. A rosary and scripture reading will be at 6:30pm. Visitation will resume Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from 9:00 am until 12:30 pm.
